Beverly Hills
Considered Beverly Hills’ first estate, Virginia Robinson Gardens sits on a knoll above the Beverly Hills Hotel. Constructed over five decades, the property features seven distinct gardens and the largest King Palm grove outside Queensland, Australia. Mrs. Robinson donated the estate to the County of Los Angeles in 1983. LGLA has been co-leading a three-year volunteer effort to create an Historic American Landscape Survey of these gardens, which will facilitate the designation of the house as a museum and will assist in long term garden maintenance.
The HALS documentation includes a written narrative, measured drawings, and archival quality photography. The completed document will be housed in the National Archives.
